For fifteen years, I thought I had my career path figured out. I was comfortable in a stable marketing role, but ‘comfortable’ had slowly turned into ‘stuck.’ The industry was changing, my skills were becoming dated, and I watched younger colleagues pass me by for promotions. The idea of going back to school was terrifying. How could I possibly juggle a mortgage, a family, and classes? I felt too old, too busy, and too far behind.

The turning point came during a particularly frustrating performance review. I knew I was capable of more, but I didn’t have the qualifications to prove it. That night, I spent hours online, falling down a rabbit hole of confusing college websites, outdated financial aid forms, and programs that seemed designed for 18-year-olds. It was overwhelming, but it also lit a fire in me. I decided to enroll in an online degree completion program, and it was one of the hardest but most rewarding things I’ve ever done.

Through that process, I learned to decipher financial aid for independent adults, how to get credit for my work experience, and how to study effectively after a full day at the office. But I was frustrated by the lack of a central, supportive resource. I pieced it all together myself, but I kept thinking, ‘There has to be an easier way.’ That’s why I created ‘Invest In Yourself.’
